Ready Region Southside offers a tiered approach for professional development to support beginners to advanced learners and have the following training courses available:
Basic CLASS Foundational: For CLASS Beginners, new educators and anyone wanting to learn the fundamentals of CLASS. Training length: 1 hour. · Provides a broad overview of CLASS, including a snapshot of each of the three classroom tools (Infant, Toddler and Pre-K). · Participants will receive a CLASS dictionary.
CLASS Foundational 2: For those familiar with CLASS who want more information on a specific tool (Infant, Toddler, or Pre-K), need a refresher or are interested in becoming a CLASS Observer. Training length: 1.5 hours. · Each course provides a deeper dive into one of three CLASS tools used in classroom observations. They are Ideal for educators who have a basic understanding of CLASS and want to learn more about the tool used to observe a specific age group. · Participants will receive a CLASS dimension guide.
Introduction to CLASS training: For anyone interested in gaining a deep understanding of a CLASS tool but have limited experience with CLASS. Recommended as a prerequisite for those looking to become a CLASS observer. Training length: 6 hours · For educators who have a foundational understanding of the CLASS tool and are considering becoming a CLASS observer. This is an in-depth training course designed to help participants learn effective teacher-child interactions, and ways these interactions help children learn. Participants will practice identifying effective teacher practices in videos from real classrooms. Participants will receive a CLASS dimension guide. Note: This training can be shortened to a minimum of 3 hours.
CLASS Observer Training (Intro recommended a prerequisite): For administrators, coaches, or teachers who want to conduct formal CLASS Observations within their sites.Training Length: 2 days · Designed to help participants gain an in-depth understanding of CLASS methodology and prepare to reliability assess teaching quality using CLASS. Requires post-training testing that ensures attendees are familiar with the CLASS tool. · Participants will receive: CLASS Manual, Participant Guide, CLASS score sheets (5), Master Code Justification Guide, and a 2-month subscription to the Teachstone CLASS video library.
